Having a Radeon X1900 XT in a Mac Pro: Time for Spring Cleanup Session

Following our recent news about the overheating of the Radeon X1900 XT being installed in Mac Pro, it seems that the design of the GPU fan-based cooling system might trap dust and then leads to its precipitated death as reported by Christophe:
...I decided to open up my Mac Pro for performing a quick clean up procedure especially before the hot season.
When getting to the GPU I was amazed by the amount of dust trapped in the air inlet opening of the GPU cooling system. The small metal-based grid was covered by dust, in a much, much more extend than the rest of dust found in the Mac Pro.
After a good clean up, I partially disassembled the cooling system and performed some tests. After 1 hour of playing with Age of Empires III, I hardly heard the Radeon X1900XT, while previously I could hear the fan at full speed all the time.
So, I recommend to all X1900 XT-based Mac Pro owners to open up their computer and clean up the air inlet of the GPU cooling system, as its design might enhance dust trapping and dramatically shorten is lifetime.
If this report gives more "inside" information concerning the reason behind Radeon 1900 XT overheating issues, all Mac users should know that with the summer getting closer, it is time to get ride of the dust in your computer, either with a vacuum cleaner or a air spray.
