Adobe intends to offer a set of some of its application via a Web interface for free. Revenues would be generated by embedded ads displayed on the webpage on this online service.
Adobe expects to be ready in 6 months, and to focus mostly on functions currently available with Photoshop and Lightroom. Of course Adobe can not offer a full Creative Suite for free online, so those free web-based applications will probably include functions or capabilities that will be useful for most non-Pro consumers, while giving the best introduction or incentive to move on to the full version. Adobe also wants to avoid problems linked to low network speed, so they will have to work out a system allowing the minimal data transfer between hosted applications servers and consumer computers.
One can easily determine which companies will be interested in advertising of such Adobe free online applications websites: online photo printing service, photo album design, poster, etc.
