Dell And Linux: Not So Much in Love at the End

By linathael - 28/02/2007 16:36:11 CET - Category: PC - Source: www.computerworld.com
While the Linux community was getting excited about Dell decision to offer Linux-based hardware models, an official PR cooled it down dramatically.
Dell will NOT offer Linux-based hardware, and will keep having Windows-bundled desktops and notebooks. Dell's relationship with Linux will be limited to a SUSE certification for its hardware models.
One can wonder what kind of arguments Microsoft used to convince Dell to stay with its a Windows-only policy and not to go to the "Linux dark side".

Apple TV Delayed: Why?

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 28/02/2007 09:26:41 CET - Category: Apple
If Apple did not release an official statement, several consumers waiting for their Apple TV in USA received a message from the Apple Store indicating that the shipment will be made in March, with first the first delivery of Apple TV to users initiated on March 20th.
We are not really surprised by this delay, as the Apple TV is almost a Mac mini so once more Apple was too optimistic regarding its capacity to deliver on time. On the other hand, the date of March 20th sounds a bit strange: a rumor was indicating a potential "Special Event" on March 20th, described as the date chosen to introduce the revision of the MacPro and Apple Cinema displays (probably all going HDCP ready). So Apple might have decided to push the Apple TV introduction to a later date in order to demo its HD video abilities on a new 42" Cinema display HD.
