Scot Finnie is Computerworld's online editorial director and, by extension, a Windows expert. In November of 2006 he decided to try and use a Mac for three months, as part of a series of Computerworld articles. The Mac in question was a Core 2 duo 17" MacBook Pro.
The three month period ended three days ago. In his final article, and to the general surprise of most, Scot said "sayonara" to Windows.
He decided that Apple's OS was the one he wanted to use on a daily basis, after the three month comparison to XP (and Vista). He summed things up very simply in a way that is close to our philosophy: "When Mac users say, 'It just works.' what they mean is that you spend more time on your work, and a lot less time working on your computer". This defection won't change the marketshare differential between OS X and Windows but, it might help a few people who are still hesitating.
