- Last Night's iPhrenzy in Paris - Lionel - 22:34:52
While the Orange boutiques were opening their doors, here are some of the photos taken on the Champs-Elysées.

The queue was about 150m a 1/2 hour before the opening of the shop and was growing rapidly.
It was amusing to see that this queue created its own crowding affect, as not everyone there knew about the release of the iPhone.
Thanks to Camille for climbing the phone booth just before the opening of the Orange shop. You can clearly see the long queue from this elevated position.

- 2000 iPhones Sold Last Night on the Champs - Lionel - 22:28:24
According to the information that we have received, Orange has sold 2000 iPhones in its Champs-Elysées store last night.
This figure is rather good, knowing that the on site subscription process makes the procedure much slower than in the United States or England, where people left with the devices within minutes.
In addition, again there were many people in the Orange stores this morning, and almost all of them waiting, as staff was still hesitation in the subscription process.

- Micron To Manufacture SSD Disks - Lionel - 22:13:12
Source : TGdaily
Micron, a forefront manufacture of memory chips, announced its plan to sell its own SSD disk in the first quarter of 2008.They will be offered in 1.8" and 2.5" sizes at 32 Gb and 64 Gb sizes and only offered with SATA interfaces.
It now seems unavoidable that memory chip manufacturers, who are suffering from a drop in the price of their products, will all rush into this promising market with enormous potential.
It will certainly be the manufacturers of classic hard drives who risk decaying in the coming years.
The competition will help the price of 32 and 64 GB SSD disks to become more affordable in 2008. At that time, it could be possible, as a form of transition, for computers to be able to simultaneously contain a classic 2.5" hard drive as well as a 1.8" SSD. So, it could benefit from the best of both worlds.

- LG to Sell a 6x Blu-ray Burner - Lionel - 21:59:13
Although the LG company makes relatively inauspicious DVD burners, it has started to make a very interesting place for itself in the Blu-ray burner market.
More than a year ago we were impressed with their GBW-H10N, which wasn't just the first 4x but also the cheapest on the market. The company has now comeback in a big way with its successor, the GGW-H20L.
This burner is the first to support writing single layer Blu-ray disks at 6x. In addition it burns double layer BD-R at 4x, DVDs at 16x, and CDs ad 40x. And the icing on the cake... it is LightScribe compatible and can read HD-DVD.
This is surely the future best-selling HD drive, especially since is price will be below 400€.

- Firmware Update for the Intel Xserve - Lionel - 21:51:20
Apple has released a "Lights-Out Management Firmware Update 1.1". This allows the machine to be remotely turned off and on via the ethernet ports.
This update can be performed without restarting the machine, even remotely. But be careful, as it would be better to be nearby in case there is a problem and the system crashes, which would require a reboot of the machine.
To acquaint yourself with the more or less complex procedure:

- Apple Finally Boosts .mac Servers? - Kalomir - 21:43:59
Source : macuser
Although the OS X Software Update server perform well, .mac users have not experienced the same level of speed. It could even be said that with the release of iWeb 08, which has made the putting galleries of photos and videos online rather easy, the speed of the server have become decidedly slow for a "preimum" server from Apple.
Last week, in a communication, the company indicated that they have finally accelerated the download of Web galleries hosted by .mac in Europe. Without precisely stating how this was done, they explain that they have reacted to a topic on their forums... with over 790 posts.
Have you notice the speedup in your own albums and galleries?
However, according to macuser (registration requires), this acceleration does not affect one of the essential elements of .mac, iDisk. Apple needs to do better for these 99€ per year accounts.
