- Apple Released WebApp for iPhone - Eric - 22:19:27
Apple released WebApps for iPhone, a library as well as a selection of Web-based applications available on Apple mobile phone. On the same page, visitors will find links towards the Web development guidelines and explanation for submitting your WebApp for iPhone.
Last but not least, Apple further communicates about the new "Works with iPhone" similarly to the current "Made for iPod".
This WebApp-dedicated pages (including the developer SDK) illustrate clearly that Apple does not intend to further open the iPhone to "native" applications, Cupertino probably wants to control the system layers, as well as non web-based application to avoid hacks to break its iPhone business plan, mostly based on exclusive partnerships with carriers.

iphonesimfree.com announced to have packed the first "useable" SIM unlocking application for iPhones based on firmware 1.1.1.
Further to this, we are very proud to announce, (after some very difficult and lengthy hardware hackery), we were able to retrieve the necessary info to create the world first 1.1.1 unlock solution. We have now tested SimFree v1.6 with phones that have the new Baseband version 04.01.13_G with full success. This now means that SimFree v1.6 release is now capable of completely restoring/repairing software unlocked "bricked" iPhone. Those of you wishing to repair your phone, please read the following steps. It will cost you US$ 59.99. Please remember that depending on the carrier, the EDGE network for getting access to the internet via your iPhone might not be designed to provide a true enjoyable experience. Unlocking an iPhone does not mean you can use all features with any carriers
Steps for "un-bricking" your anySim or iUnock iPhones:
1. Follow the iPhone/iTouch dev team steps to bring your phone back to 1.0.2 system (your baseband firmware will still be the newer 04.01.13_G)
2. Register your true IMEI (found engraved on the back of your phone) with our servers through one of our trusted resellers.
3. Power down your phone and REMOVE your sim
4. Power up with the sim removed and Install SimFree.app 1.6 (simplest method is through apptapp installer, see post below)
5. Follow this tutorial to execute the Simfree. app.

- SSD: 640 GB = US$ 19,000 - Lionel - 11:26:35
Source : http://gizmodo.com
The company ioFusion will launch a SSD model based on a PCI Express 4x card:
Read and write performance levels are incredible, with 800 MB/s and 600 MB/S respectively. To reach such speed, the card hardware reads and writes simultaneously to several NAND chips (a king a NAND chips RAID Stripping).
The SSD PCI Express card will be available initially with storage space ranging from 80, 260 and 320 GB; and a high-end model planned for Q1 2008 should offer 640 GB capacity. Unlike other companies, prices are already known and vary from "only" US$ 2,400 for the 80 GB model to US$ 19,000 for the high-end model. Only Linux and Windows drivers are currently available.

Microsoft offers via its "Microsoft Connect" service a beta test version of Office Mac 2008 (requiring invitation), prior to its official launch at the MacWorld Expo on January 15th in San Francisco.

During the last Apple Expo, where Microsoft announced the future availability of Office Mac 2008, they demonstrated all applications of the suite (except Entourage). Visitors could clearly notice improvements, and new features introduced to strengthen the productivity of those applications. Unlike the PC version, the Mac version will not use the banner interface, and offers a rather standard and less disturbing GUI.

Deezer the well known free music streaming website announced to have signed an agreement with Sony BMG. It concerns 165,000 tracks which will soon be available for free listening on Deezer.com.
However, Vivendi universal does not want to stop its legal action against Deezer.com, as its has already teamed up with a French ISP for a similar streaming offer (but not entirely free and limited to ISP customers). As a reminder, Deezer.com signed up with the French Artist's right protection administration SACEM. So the current legal action illustrates the fight for online digital music dominance between, artists, Music Majors, distributors and administrations, letting customers often on the side.

- iToner 1.0.3 to Come Soon - Lionel - 11:20:29
When the renowned Mac application company Ambrosia Software launched iToner, they probably did not imagine that they engaged in an "endless" race with Apple, maintaining iToner functionality despite iPhone firmware updates. To remind you, iToner allows you to easily transfer MP3 or AAC audio files to your iPhone, as simple as: drag, drop, and sync. Apple wanted to promote sales of ringtones on the iTunes Store, and did wish to let iPhone owners to use tracks legally purchased and available in their iTunes library to create themselves their own ringtones. Ambrosia will soon start beta testing iToner 1.0.3 which should bring full iPhone 1.1.1 compatibility.
