- Owner of a PowerBook 17": You Better Check this Screw - Lionel - 13:51:55
Couple of month ago, the PowerBook 17" from one of our team members suddenly stopped working. It was then considered as a bad luck as a screw went out from its location, and while moving on the motherboard created a short-circuit that killed the logic board. This specific screw is easily accessible via the RAM trap after removing of modules. But yesterday, another team member reported the very similar event on a PowerBook 17" as shown on the photo below:

The specific screw supposed to be located in the little hole on the right side of the photo, moved close to a component which then melted almost entirely before creating a short circuit (the brownish leak below the white connector).
So if you have a PowerBook 17" and experienced a problem with it, or had to change the logic board, then you might have been facing the same issue.
If you own a PowerBook 17" we would advise you to quickly check if this screw is tightly fixed. In any case, we want to hear from you in the dedicated topic of our forum: here.
Since both defective PowerBook 17" were 3 to 4 years-old, they could not be covered by an Extended Apple Care plan. So if you are skilled enough, it might be important to disassemble your PowerBook to check all screws supposed to fix the logic board to the notebook case.

- Turbo Memory: Branded Name for Robson - Lionel - 11:50:14
Source : TGdaily
We all know robson, as the name of Intel's technology aiming to add flash memory modules to the motherboard to boost performance (routine procedures, booting, repeated HD access, etc.). It will be included to the next mobile platform Centrino, aka Santa Rosa. But one should give it a branded name to fit with the Centrino trademark. Not really inspired, Intel named it Turbo Memory. So, we simply need to wait for the next revision of Apple MB and MB Pro to evaluate if performance and battery lifespan are really improved with Robson technology... or should we say Turbo Memory.

While the opening of the first French physical Apple Store in Paris (rue Scribe) is currently definitely postponed, the new location of Apple France will be 7 place d'Iéna, just above the EBC (Executive Briefing Center) which is the show-room regularly used by the company.
So, we expect to be there at the end of the year for the opening ceremony!
