According to Dailytech, Intel has already started to ship Quad Core Xeon CPUs, being 2 months in advance on its schedule. The Quad Core model already available, named E5335, clocked at 2GHz is priced 690$, it is cheaper than 2 Dual Core Xeon CPUS with the same frequency.
Apple could use such Quad Core Xeon to offer an entry-level model, cheaper than the current one, while being ready for an Octo Core high-end model that could be as cheap as the current one.
