Apple Acquires Proximity

On the website of the UK-based company Proximity, one can read the following statement:

We are pleased to announce that all Proximity technology and intellectual property, including artbox workgroup and artbox enterprise, was recently acquired by Apple.
Existing Proximity customers with current support contracts will be contacted by Apple with details regarding their specific agreements and support requirements.

This company offers video asset management system for broadcast televisions and post production creative departments, known as "Artbox Workgroup" and 'Artbox enterprise".

So with such technology, Apple will be able to either integrate it in future revisions of Final Cut Pro and/or use it with iTunes Store for managing video content, scaling up capabilities before launching a real online video store.
