Sony Blu-Ray Player: One Day It Will Come

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 23/10/2006 21:00:14 CEST - Category: CD Drives - Source: Dailytech
Sony has once more postponed the availability date of its standalone Blu-ray player BDP-S1, originally planned to be introduced last July. The expect date is now set to December 4th.
Officially the reason is the PS3 launch, indeed the Sony game console will feature a BD player; so Sony needs all blue-laser diode to be used for the next generation playstation.
Another reason is the lower than expected yield of blue-laser diodes; this will both slow down BD player spreading and adoption by customers, preventing also competitors to offer cheaper BD players.

iPod: Happy Birthday

A bit difficult not to mention this information, the iPod is celebrating today its 5-years anniversary. This mobile MP3 player has simply initiated a revolution, both for digital music, and also the way we listen to music.
The iPod is also the device that has allowed Apple to be back on tract in its never-ending competition with other hardware and software giants.
First models were working only on Macs, and the Mac community has massively supported this product, making it known, showing PC users how the iPod was the Apple's translation of MP3 player, the same way the Mac is Apple's idea of a computer.
Cupertino should not forget that the iPod success is partially due to the very active and innovative Mac community.
