IBM is still developing CPUs, and has released 2 new models, mostly to provide lower power consumption processors to the market.
The first one is the PPC 750CL clocked at 1 GHz.
The second CPU is the PPC 970GX with frequencies ranging from 1.2 to 2.5 GHz.
Behind those PPC codes, one can easily recognize a G3 and a G5.
Even though the power consumption has decreased, CPU frequency did not change at all, so imagine what the situation would be today if Apple did not choose Intel CPU 16 months ago...
