Dailytech unveils information related to the future nVidia GPU generation. This new GPU, code name G80, should be branded as nVidia GeForce 8800. The core frequency should reach 575 MHz while the 768 MB (!!) of DDR3 should be clocked at 900 MHz. The memory bandwidth of 384 bits should ensure data speed transfer toping at 86 GB/s.
These are, of course, specifications for the future nVidia GPU flagship, lower clocked G80-based graphic cards will be offered for the main market, as well as the entry level dedicated to OEMs.
Power consumption should reach new records, directly the opposite direction taken by CPU manufacturers.
Those new nVidia GPUs should be launched during the second half of November.

Thanks to Brius for this info:
Via the Perian's QuickTime component (The Swiss-Army knife for QT), one can watch DivX and Xvid as .avi file in FrontRow. This is a good news because FrontRow uses QuickTime exclusively, and VLC can not be integrated in it.

IBM is still developing CPUs, and has released 2 new models, mostly to provide lower power consumption processors to the market.
The first one is the PPC 750CL clocked at 1 GHz.
The second CPU is the PPC 970GX with frequencies ranging from 1.2 to 2.5 GHz.
Behind those PPC codes, one can easily recognize a G3 and a G5.
Even though the power consumption has decreased, CPU frequency did not change at all, so imagine what the situation would be today if Apple did not choose Intel CPU 16 months ago...
