On the website http://hdtv.o0o.it/mini/, a step-by-step procedure is described to replace the CPU of a Mac Mini Core Duo (or Solo).
In this example, the original CPU is replaced by a Core Duo 2.16GHz, the fastest Yonah CPU currently available.
Unfortunately, there is no information provided regarding the potential increase of the temperature in the Mac Mini or the corresponding cooling system activity.
If you plan to perform such a change, we would recommend to wait till the end of the month: the already announced retail price decrease of the Core Duo.
In a couple of month you might also be able to upgrade the original CPU with a Merom (commercial name will be "Core 2 Duo"); we will present you some unreleased primary tests performed with a Merom-equipped hardware soon; it is worth waiting for this future CPU ;)
