DADVSI law: first act.

by linathael . Original by Lionel - 21/03/2006 22:13:36 CET
Without a big surprise, and confirming what we have already published about this project the DADVSI bill has been voted, and will now go the high chamber in May.
some articles in this law, have such broad claims and impacts that the French Internet market face might be dramatically changed. Congratulation to our lawmakers for having successfully displeased all actors of this important subject, from artists to consumers.
Forbes has published an analysis only related to the "interpolarity article" that will force online music providers to make their DRM compatibles. As we were already mentioning it, Forbes expect that if such law is applied in France, Apple might simply decide to close the French iTMS. It will of course not only impact Apple iTMS, but also other players. iTMS is not the first French online music providers, Virgin music is still leading the race in France (DRM-enable WMA music format). In addition, Apple France is probably tired of negotiating with our government regarding taxes applied on devices and storage media (CD, DVD, HD- and Flash memory-based Music players) that have originally delayed iPods success.

As reported by Giuseppe, it seems to be fast:
I have installed EyeTV 2.1 on my new Mac Mini Core Duo. I could not compare with the previous version, but it seems to be fast.
The version 2.1 seems to bring new features, such as HD support for Core Duo.
Couple of weeks ago we have published a test of Test EyeTV 2.0

by linathael . Original by Lionel - 21/03/2006 11:00:18 CET
Thanks to Charles-Antoine for reporting this news published on Jaron Brass.
One can see how the Miramar High School has organized the setting up of 3000 iBooks in 3 days before distributing them to students.

Even the biggest Apple's fan would reconsider their passion if they had to carry out this task, a real big challenge.

Apple at the MIPS show

by linathael . Original by Lionel - 21/03/2006 10:56:34 CET
Thanks to Thibaud for his report and photo.
Hereafter are some photos taken at the MIPS show(multimedia image photo show) taking place last week-end in Paris.
Apple's hardware was highly represented at the show, as I was expecting it, I could also see 2 MBPro, one of them being plugged to a Apple Cinema Display 30"

If the last Mac models were strongly advertised, a good old G4 was still used but hidden behind the desk :)
