Their ability to take photos has been developed as such that both models have in addition named "CyberShot", a word normally reserved to digital cameras manufactured by Sony.

At the same time, Sony-Ericsson have unveiled new Wxxx mobile phones with the secret objective to strongly compete iPod domination on the market of mobile digital music players.

Funny translation mistake on the French AppleStore

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 01/03/2006 21:15:44 CET - Category: Apple
Thanks to Laurent for this report. On the French AppleStore, on the iPod Hi-Fi-dedicated webpage one can read that this new device can be powered thanks to 6 watch-type batteries... Of course it is impossible, the Type D batteries are the largest batteries of their class, 6 of them weight close to 1 kg.
Hereafter is a photo of Martin leaving the Shibuya AppleStore (Japan) with an iPod Hi-Fi.

PS: we now understand why Apple has reduced the size of boxes for the last computer models... it is to save space in stocks for the iPod Hi-Fi boxes :)

AACS format gives headhakes to burner manufacturers

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 01/03/2006 14:25:54 CET - Category: CD Drives
In a previous news, we were reporting that the release of the first HD-DVD and Blu-Ray burners will be delay due to the current problems to finalized the AACS format.
All burner manufacturers need the definition of the AACS format in order to launch production and to finalize firmwares for their devices. So, as it is apparently impossible for the different players to find an agreement, a temporary AACS format has been created. In other words, only the most restrictive system has been defined for the current definition. So, when the first burners will appear in March/April, none of them will feature finalized AACS format; and it will probably be impossible to make a backup copy of any media.
It is definitely urgent to wait till final formats and offers are clearly defined.

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 01/03/2006 14:15:28 CET - Category: CD Drives - Source: CDR Info
Samsung will release in April the 2 Blu-Ray burner (one external and one internal model).
They will be able to burn 50GB of data on dual layer media, at 2x on BD-R, but also DVD at 12x and CD at 40x. To be compatible with these 3 formats, each burner will feature 3 different lasers; the price is of course higher.

Both burners will come with the AACS current definition, and will support further firmware update when the final AACS format will be released.
