- Exclusive: First French Physical AppleStore: Rue Scribe in Paris? - Lionel - 15:57:23
We have already reported that Apple has encountered many problems when looking for a location to build the first physical AppleStore in France. Today, a message from Vincent might give a hint of the future location of the AppleStore.
I am working Rue Scribe in Paris, and this morning at the entrance of the building where my office is located, a new sign has been added simply featuring "Apple" (a simple Alu squared-shape sign with an Apple logo engraved). In addition, there are on-going renovations on the entire area of the ground-floor.It is too early to say if this location will be for the AppleStore or for Apple France, as we know that Apple has planned to change location of its current French Headquarter from "Les Ullis" (in the suburb of Paris) to a more central place in Paris.
The building is the same one that American Express is in, close to the opera, and located 11, rue Scribe)
So will the first physical AppleStore located in the same building that I work in? :)
So, what about locations of other AppleStore in Europe?

- Toast your CDs/DVDs, for real - Lionel - 14:14:36
Plextor just announced a weird product.

The Plexeraser is not another CD/DVD burner.Instead, you could call it an "overburner" that sort of burns a CD or DVD over the readable layer, so as to render it unreadable. It takes about 3 minutes to "shred" a CD or single layer DVD and twice for a dual layer media.
So it's the CD/DVD equivalent of the good old paper shredder... it's soooo Mission Impossible you know you'll want one.
No price has been announced yet and you can always wonder what the point is compared to pure and simple physical breaking of the disc of a couple seconds in a microwave oven*.
*[moose: breaking a CD in pieces or poping it in the oven is not exactly "corporate behaviour"... plus when you break a disc, pieces of it can still be readable (remember the spy geeks poring over Stasi-shredded top secret papers after the fall of the Berlin Wall), so I guess this device will find its audience in security-conscious businesses].
