- Silencing the MacBook Pro - Lionel - 19:03:25

Source : XLR8yourMac

On the Apple forums, someone has described a process to remove the noise from some MacBook Pros.
It is as simple as modifying some variables in the "IOPlatformPluginFamily" extension.
Note: this modification does not work on every machine, in addition it could have a negative effect on battery life.

- Is AMD at an Impasse? - Lionel - 18:54:18

AMD has just recalled 3,000 high-end Opteron processors. During intensive calculations, certain units would overheat resulting in erroneous results.
According to X86secret, this kind of problem occurs when an processor architecture it pushed to its limits. Intel has experienced such problems in the past.
AMD, who still has the wind in its sails, seems to have arrived a the end of the road for its K8 architecture.
The arrival of new Intel processors, has lead to the abandoning of the succeeding architecture and a jump to the development of the K10. But it is not yet ready, and it will probably not be here in time for the arrival of Intel's Conroe processor.

The offer from AMD seems rather unhelpful, the manufacturer will only exchange the processors if the customer has such intensive use of the processors that it will reveal the bugs in them, which is an aberration.
