- Apple Event on the 28th - Lionel - 14:52:05

One more thing ?
Could be: Apple has invited journalists in its Cupertino headquarters in order to announce new... things ? The place itself is very much symbolic given when and where the last invitations were given.
More information about that in 5 days, 5pm GMT.

- First benchmarks of the MacBook Pro 2GHz - Lionel - 01:44:57

Powerpage has published a XBench test from the MacBook Pro 2GHz and compared it to a PowerBook G4 1.5GHz.
On average, the MacBook is 77% faster than the previous model.
Please note that XBench is far from being a realistic test for everyday usage of the computer.

Our friends at Mac4ever told us that a Macrumors forum member has tested the battery life of his laptop. It lasts three and a half hours in normal usage. This corresponds with the preliminary information that we provided you.

- More Info on Intel's Next Processors - Lionel - 01:36:28

Matbe has some information on Intel's next processors, Merom (portables) and Conroe (desktops).
These processors are Intel's answer to the speed race with AMD, as they should be 20% faster at the same frequency than the Athlon 64 X2.
This gain will be in large part because of the reduction of the pipeline to 14 stages (which is much shorter than the P4), while also benefiting from a prediction algorithm which was planned for the longer pipelines. The 4 MB of cache will also add to the performance gain.
The site also provides the mobile processor roadmap from Intel:
