AOL has developed a brand new instant messaging program. Goodbye AIM, Hello Triton. However all is not rosy, since Triton is not compatible with iChat. This software is completely proprietary, but does not inform the user of that. Because of this, many users are balking at the switch to the new version. That's not the real problem, though, as Le journal du web reports [in French] that AOL is on route to block access to or at least block many features of AIM except from the Triton client.
