PowerBook Titanium : change the processor

by linathael . Original by Lionel - 28/08/2005 12:38:28 CEST - Source: XLR8yourMac
Sonnet is proposing for 499.95$ to change the processor of any PB G4 550 and 667MHz Titanium by a G4 clocked at 1.2GHz.
This offer is currently available only in the USA, and requires to ship the entire machine in order to get the processor replaced.
This opportunity might only interest some mac users, in love with their Titanium and who have taken great care of their notebook. Indeed, if the cost of this processor exchange is less than buying a new notebook, other components in the Titanium will remain "old" and especially the graphic card.

Solve printing issues with Airport

by linathael . Original by Lionel - 28/08/2005 12:32:21 CEST
Thanks to Etienne for this info:
Since one year, I have printing problems with my HP5100 plugged via the USB port of my Airport Extreme: printing is amazingly slow and usually freeze when 50% of the work is done. Many users have reported similar issues with Airport station.
While I was browsing Apple forum (http://discussions.info.apple.com/.68b5895d/3), one member was reporting THE solution to my problems:
First go to this page http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/ and download both software :
- hpijs-foomatic-2.0.2.ppc.dmg
- espgs-7.07.1.ppc.dmg
Install them.
Launch "system preferences"-> "Printer and Fax"
Add a new printer and select "Printer IP"
Select the protocol "HP JET DIRECT - Socket"
Enter Airport station IP address
Queue: leave blank
Name: give a name you want
Location: Airport Extreme (or the location you want)
Print using: HP (or other depending on your printer)
Select model: from the list
Then click "Add" and it is done.
Your printer will never freeze anymore
