Quake 3 with GPL license

By linathael. Original by Yoc - 23/08/2005 09:23:07 CEST - Category: Software
For game developers or any curious geek, ID software has released the source code of Quake 3 Arena as promised during the Quakecon 2005.
According to specialists, this code is much cleaner than for Quake 2. In the downloaded folder, you will find the Xcode project for Mac ready for being compiled.
Warning, ID Software is not releaseing the source code to the public. The code is available via a GPL license that means : if you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program's users, under the GPL., and not like a shareware with a locked code!
Download it from ID Software FTP
Download it from demon.co.uk FTP (recommended).

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 23/08/2005 09:12:29 CEST - Category: Video
AnandTech and Barefeats have both released the first test of the famous Radeon 9600 Pro PC and MacEdition.
Without any big surprise, performances are similar to those of a 9600 Pro but this new card supports in addition the 30" display for both PC and Mac users. In addition, Mac users will of course be happy to have an additional model to add to the really small number of Mac-compatible graphic cards.
This card brings an important boost for Core Image when compared to a GeForce 5200 Ultra.
