Problems with iMacG5 : Apple finally acknowledges them and react

Some production series of iMacG5 have been affected by problems due to electronic components (defect capacitors). We quickly reported those problems affecting some iMacG5 series, most of them originating from October 2004.
Today, Apple is finally acknowledging those reported issues with some iMacG5 and launching a iMac G5 Repair Extension Program.

The affected iMac G5 computers have serial numbers where the first 5 digits fall into the ranges noted below:
W8435xxxxxx - W8522xxxxxx
QP435xxxxxx - QP522xxxxxx
CK435xxxxxx - CK522xxxxxx
YD435xxxxxx - YD522xxxxxx

You will locate the 11-digit serial number on a label under the foot of the iMac G5:

So, if you own an iMacG5 with a weird behavior (scrambled video, PSU problems) contact immediately the AppleStore or Apple Support or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
