SonyEricsson K750i: some remarks

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 08/08/2005 18:31:55 CEST - Category: Laptop
Some remarks concerning the SonyEricsson K750i and its compatibility with Mac
This mobile phone has already been tested many times:
- http://www.pixellum.com/blog/index.php?2005/06/09/75-sony-ericsson-k750-et-le-mac
Some additional remarks:
- When tested with a PBG4 1.67GHz, file transfer via BT was at max at 48 KB/s, twice faster than with a K700 and almost 4 fold faster than with a T610/630.
- The K750i is fully compatible with iApp via iSync 2.1
- Thanks to the patch K750iGrabber, it is possible to use the K750i as a USB key without generating kernel panic. The transfer of data to the memory stick is achieved at 500KB/sec. Nothing amazing.
- The USB cable can be use to refill the K750i battery via a PB
- The K750i can play without any problem MP3 and home-made AAC audio file. But of course iti s not possible to play iTMS-originating AAC audio files.
- for fun, I have encoded a free video clip offered on the iTMS when buying a complete album via QT into 3gpp format. The size of the file was 5MB. The K750 could play the video without any problem or freezing, but one had to watch it on a rather small display.
- The remote control mode is allowing you to control the cursor of your Mac without installing any additional software.
The only missing function is of course the capacity to play mp4 to be even more an "iPhone" than the "iPhone", if the latter is released one day...
Motorola iPhone will have to be priced aggressively to be able to compete with the K750i.

Steve Robinson, from the Space Shuttle Discovery, is the first human being "podcasting" from the space. In his Podcast, he describes part of his mission and in general what has been achieved. We wish them good luck for their come back on Earth.

iTMS Japan : one million songs in just 4 days

By linathael. Original by linathael - 08/08/2005 11:26:10 CEST - Category: Sound - Source: www.apple.com
Astonishing start for iTMS Japan. As reported by Steve Jobs, "iTunes has become Japan’s number one online music store in just four days". Other record, iTMS Japan has sold within 4 days twice as many songs as all the other online music services available in Japan sell in one month! Really impressive figures.
But a real success is a long-term success, so we will have to follow numbers for iTMS Japan in the coming weeks; but for sure SONY is not really happy to face a competitor as Apple in Japan.
