Apple and DRM for the MacTel

By Val. Original by Lionel - 01/08/2005 14:12:11 CEST - Category: Apple - Source: Slashdot
It seems Apple used the DRM avalaible on Intel platform to forbid using Mac OS X x86 on PC. Everything is managed by an Infineon DRM 1.1 chip installed on the motherboard.
It may shock some people nevertheless it is mandatory for Apple.
The manufacturer can't let Mac OS X go and be installed easily on any PC.
However, a concern remains. Will Apple keep using DRM only to protect their software or will they take advantage of DRM to extend their seizure over the hardware/software couple?
We would have loved to say that Apple isn't known to set limitations but it would be lying to say so, seeing how many of these we have had to break in the past.
