An Australian Intel's representative has admitted that the last Pentium D processor as well as Chipset i945 are integrating DRM management tools. Once associated with the proper Microsoft software, those management tools should give developers a quite extended control on their software even once installed on your computer...
As you understood it correctly, the famous Palladium project, that had shocked most of the IT community, was not dead... it just changed its name!!

iPod Shuffle up to 2 and 4 GB ?

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 30/05/2005 11:55:06 CEST - Category: Apple
Friday, Digitimes speculated that Apple would introduce a 2 GB iPod Shuffle in June, and a 4 GB model in august.
Notwidstanding the fact that increasing the capacity of one's products is considered mandatory in the computing industry in order to hold up against the competition, we might ask ourselves what would be the benefit of such a capacity, in a player that isn't endowed with a display.
It is indeed pleasant to jump from one track to the other depending on a random feature, but if the number of tunes included in the player increases, it might be desirable to choose what's being played at a given moment. And so not being able to choose between a thousand tunes could be a real limitation to a large capacity iPod Shuffle.
To remedy this, Apple may appraise several solutions:
- add a display: unlikely considering the unavoidable increase in size
- Manage Playlists: this would be an elegant way, if it was possible to create playlists with iTunes and load them in the Shuffle. A key combination would allow the choice of one playlist or the other.
- We could even dream on and imagine that the iPod could record Biometric data and deduct the right music to play :)
Time will tell if the rumour was true and if Apple will have added features, other than an increase of the Shuffle's capacity.
