A communiqué from Reuters had first let us know that Toshiba had surrendered and abandoned the HD-DVD format for the Blu Ray. A few hours later, Toshiba would strongly deny this information that reeked of psychological war.
And this war is still raging, as Toshiba just announced the HD-DVD wouldn't contain 30, but 45 Go data, quite as much as the Blu-Ray (50 go).
To reach that result, the amount of layers of this media grew from 2 to 3, each one retaining its original 15 Go capacity.
With those new specifications, the HD-DVD seems to be back in the race.
