RealNetwork's petition: stopped, reworded..but facing counter-petition!!

By linathael. Original by namu - 18/08/2004 13:40:51 CEST - Category: Internet
Real Networks continues its crusade against Apple, after proposing for a short period song price at 0.49$US, they now ask internet-user support by launching an online anti-Apple petition to protest against Apple's monopolistic behavior related to iPod.
But, there is a problem, at the same time while criticizing Apple for not licensing AAC Fairplay DRM, RealNetworks Music Stores is NOT compatible to Macusers, and this was heavily commented by Macusers in the first version of this online petition...Facing the hard reality, Real has reworded its petition, and did not give anymore the opportunity to the undersigned to comment [Translator note: Real is playing a democracy-like game with a petition without giving the tools to internet users to really express their point of view... a Real joke]
Facing this non-sense, some Macusers have launched an counter-online petition, criticizing Real's attitude, to sign it, it is : here.
let's hope that Apple is not launching an anti-RealNetworks petition...
[Translator note: unlikely, Apple is not playing this type of game :-))]

Thanks to all of you who wrote about Laurel, the drawer presented in the news, yesterday. This message from Xavier summarizes pretty well all your messages:

Since you talk about Laurel in today's news, maybe you'll be glad to know that she works on Mac, with two friends, Cha and Malaka, for Spirou (Trans: a youth magazine with plenty of comics)

Following a mistake in the "energy saving" settings, most of the test presented yesterday in our article were biased. I have now modified all results which are now more in frame with the performance level we could have expected.

Apple's colors, eh ?

And Yet Another iPod-like Ad (AYAiA, for you acronyms freaks :-) ). Neb sent us the following picture :

It seems to be easy to draw inspiration from the successful iPod ad campain, here's a blunt example that I captured in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada.
Apple certainly won't like to see their image associated with a campain aimed at revitalizing a city.

Real slashes its prices

By kurisu. Original by Sam - 18/08/2004 02:26:48 CEST - Category: Sound
Real really ain't dropping it and have the real intention of really not cutting Apple some slack. After making their DRM'd files iPod compatible, they are announcing a sales period, with the prices slashed in half. Tracks are available at their store for US$0.49
A website talking about freedom of choice has been launched (the site is sponsored by Real) :
