Though I'd been trying to connect my Blue-White G3 to the Airport network for long I'd never managed to find a cheap solution to do so. There are many PCI crds available but none that include a Mac compatible driver (especially not with OS 9) - that's the same for USB permissions. Ethernet/Wi-Fi solutions are out of reach. I discovered by chance on Belkin site the drivers that enable their USB/Wi-Fi adapter for Mac, with OS 9 as well as with OS X. Kind of weird as nothing is mentioned neither on the site, nor in the documentation, nor on install CD. One has to be quite motivated to manage to do it !! Nevertheless both manuals and driversare available on that link : http://web.belkin.com/support/download/... I bought this adapter this afternoon and installed it successfully (and easily too) under OS 9 on my G3. I haven't tried on OS X yet as my iBook is already connected to Airport but I see no reason why the manipulation shouldn't work. I gave the info to the Darty (French retail chain for Home Electronics, Computing etc...) salesperson who was quite suprized but gladly took the news, as it gave new opportunities to machines that were condemned until then. |
