Panther really IS faster, follow up

By Kalomir. Original by Lionel - 25/07/2003 20:52:44 CEST - Category: Mac OS X
Here's another comparison between X.2.6 and Panther, on a small config this time.

The most important thing to comment upon is this enormous increase in "user interface" test : over 50% faster !
This machine though sluggish with Jaguar is quite more reactive using Panther.
Excerpt from the tester comments:

I got a little G4350AGP and a Radeon. On such a small config any optimization is welcome! As you might see Quartz and user interface tests results really increased, whereas memory tests are quite lower than with Jaguar. Probably still needs to improve a bit. Nevertheless with this config Panther is incredibly faster than Jaguar et Exposé is perfectly fluid even with a hundred windows open (I just wanted to have a try and it was quite impressive!)

Apple probably rewrote Quartz engine, which was performing poorly under Mac OS X.2.
