The 3D magic of Star Wars episode 4: "I turn the dial"...

Check out this amazing video on how the 3D computer animation of the Death Star attack simulation was done for Star Wars, Episode IV.
This is pretty amazing, especially the point where the guy explains how he can rotate the 3D models by turning dials on some sort of giant console. Also, animating one single frame (and we're talking monochrome wireframe here) took all of two minutes... Jeez!
