Four new NAS models put to the test

3. New NAS generation from QNAP: TS-109 and TS-209

As their predecessors, the TS-101 and the TS-201, the current TS-109 is a single drive-based NAS, while the TS-209 offers RAID 0 and 1 abilities thanks to two HD bays. For both of them, the design does not really change, even though the hardware and software have been optimized as we will see it later (see our previous article for disassembling/assembling/installing HD).

Installing HDs is as easy as with the previous models. Both models feature a refreshed installation procedure with a dedicated application (Quick Configuration Wizard) allowing you to easily manage NAS recognition.

Once NAS recognized by the system, you can easily manage it via the web interface, allowing you to set NAS functions with a couple of mouse clicks.
