GigaDesign PPC7455B at 1.25 GHz

1- Introduction :

Our favorite accelerator card brand is currently GigaDesigns. One of the reasons we love them so much is the extreme speed at which they react and evolve. Motorola hardly just put on sale the 1.25 GHz 7455B, and we already find it on one of their cards.
The 7455B is no stranger to us. It is the processor that is on the dual G4 1.42 GHz and on the accelerator cards at Ê1.4/1.467GHz.

This 1.4GHZ version being most of the time overclockable up to 1.5 GHz, we had high hopes for the 1.25GHz version, and were right to do so.
The card has 2 MB of L3 cache with 250 MHz-certified SDRAM and running at 1/5 of the CPU speed. To be noted is the fact that Powerlogix evaluated the performance loss between SDR and DDR to less than 5%, which we confirmed indeed in the past.
