We will now need to prepare the software components required to flash this card. Several methods can be used here, but one will need to run them in a PC environment. As one can run the procedure easily from a PC partition on your Mac Pro, we decided to perform it without using Windows (i.e. just using DOS).

- First use the disk utility to create a small FAT32 partition. One can do it without reformatting the disk or losing data.
- Then download fdbasecd.iso. It is a DOS bootable CD weighting less than 8MB. Burn it with MAC OSX tools without unpacking it.
- Then download NVFlash 5.5.7, unzip it and install its content on the freshly created FAT32 partition. It will be used as a HD storage space.

All components required for the procedure are ready, so now let us flash the card.
