A Way to Avoid RAM Overheating in a Mac Pro
Many users of MacBidouille/Hardmac have reported overheating of the FB-DIMM used in the MacPro.
I found in one of the posts a link to Max_Upgrades, which sells a cooling kit especially designed to avoid this problem, the Max_flow, and I bought one.
This is a short preview of this kit .
I ordered it directly on the Max_Upgrades website, and received it in 3 days.
The cost is $79 plus $24.5 for a shipping to Europe.
You can see the kit wich is looking good and seems to be robust.
Mounting
The mounting is quite easy
Here are some pictures from the user manual.
The power can be drained from two different ways.
If you have only one optical drive, then, you can use te connector located in the optical bay.
As I have two optical drives, I used the connector located in the PCI bay, in the upper font of the motherboard ( the other connector is dedicated to the ATI 1900 XT)
The cable is then passed behind the graphic card downward to the memory bay.

Then you can use the front screw to attach the lower fan to the motherboard.

The upper fan is clipped on the Apple Heatsink and then screwed on it.
Finally, he upper and lower risers are put back in place and the wires are connected.
