2 - Comparing the MacBook with other Apple notebooks
The MacBook, with its 13.3" display, is only marginally smaller than the PB 15". On the photo below is a PowerBook 15" (bottom), a MacBook 13.3" (middle), and an iBook 12" (top) piled up one over the other.
The MacBook weight is also quite similar to the PB. The MacBook is then as big as the PB 15" while featuring a smaller display, although the panel resolution is almost identical. It can be interesting to compare both displays, first based on resolution:
The MacBook and PB offer almost the same resolution (only an additional 54 pixel band for the PB), however, when considering the surface size, the MacBook is really similar to the iBook 12":
The MacBook is quite unique when comparing with other Apple notebooks, it is almost as big as a PB15", but provides only a slightly larger display than the iBook or PB 12". So the important features making the MacBook an interesting notebook are not related to its display, but rather to all the other components that we will describe in the next pages.
