The new interface is divided into two main windows. Let's start with the leftside one called "categories".
It sports a series of icons:
Recordings
Allows you to access contents you have already recorded on your HD. Upon clicking on this icon, a new window will pop up on the right with the list of your medias, a small preview window, duration, size and recording date. As in every good Mac application, a simple clikc on a column's header will sort out the contents. Preview size can also be customized via a cursor at the bottom of the window.
A double clic on the preview initiates reading, Command-E starts Export process while CTRL-E will open Edition panel. You'll also have, right in the toolbar, direct export via Toast or even for the iPod video options!
Schedule recordings
As the name implies, it allows you to plan future recordings. We'll see later on that if the "classical" way of creating new programs by clicking on the "New" button still works, now there's something even simpler. Of course, you may still access your scheduled recordings for modifying, inactivating and so on, either by double clicking, or via the "info" icon.
Channels icon
Gives you access to a very useful window. After scanning a satellite (in case you're using EyeTV 310), you'll find the full series of listed channels. There's a new "broadcaster" column.. A simple sorting out on this column gives you immediate access to the channels you're looking for. Confusion with foreign channels won't happen any more.
Guide (new)
Buying EyeTV 2 gives you one year subscription to TvTv, a Tv guide on the Net. The Guide column allows you to chose between TvTv or, if you wish so (or if the channel isn't listed by tvtv) DVB, that deals with the info given by the satellite. Afterwards we will illustrate some of those new features.
The Program Guide is a real improvement as compared to older versions!
Once you've selected a guide for a channel, if you click on this icon, you'll see a small program pop-up window. Cool!
Even better, if you select a show, you'll get the sum up and will also be able to schedule a recording by a single click. "Huge!", "Really Cool" , as Steve would say :-). This function alone is worth buying the new version!
