Disassembling the top case :
Clean the working area, turn the iBook side up, and remove the keyboard (link to apple). Remove the Airport Extreme card (do not forget to unplug the antenna).
Remove the trap giving access to the RAM module expansion slot.
Remove the keyboard connector slowly and carefully. It is quite fragile, you can use a flat screwdriver to release it (right side, then left side).
Now you can disassemble the top case by removing all red-circled screws. Be careful, there is a screw located below a magnet in the centered top part of the space occupied by the keyboard. Then remove the top case from the motherboard by using the plastic spatula to release all "clips" first on the left side then around the computer to end up with the power-in plug.
Here we are! We can now access the top shield and disassemble it by removing more than a dozen of screws!
Now to the serious part of this transformation, as the disassembling step is finished. You can already identify the location of the different components that we are going to add or exchange. Be careful not to lose the HD holding bar (yellow square) that is now freely moving.
