Disassembling the lower case :
First remove the battery (as indicated by Apple, a coin is the best tool).
Then you can remove the 3 red-circled screws with a torx screwdriver. Using a flat-type screwdriver, a knife or a carton-board cutter, remove the 3 rubber plugs located in the corners.
Then with a cross-type screwdriver, remove slowly and carefully the 3 metal compartments that hold the rubber plugs (be careful when installing them back at the end of this transformation process, not to screw them to tightly).
Then remove the 2 screws located close to the battery connector...
...as well as the 2 screws located at the opposite side.
Now, you can start the difficult part: the goal is to disassemble the lower case from the rest of the iBook. This will be achieved thanks to a flexible plastic spatula by inserting it as indicated and releasing all "clips". Proceed with caution and slowly. It is quite challenging when reaching corners. The best is to start disassembling the case around the battery compartment.
Once the lower case is removed, you have a direct access to the shielded part that can be removed by unscrewing all red circled screws.
Once this is done, you get access to the heart of the iBook.
You can see the bottom side of the combo drive. Before proceeding to the next step remove carefully the yellow scotch tape linking the wire of the combo drive to the motherboard.
