Mini Partner Test

par Lionel - 13/06/2005
The Mini Partner is a dedicated design hardware, extending the use of MacMini.
Introduction
Shortly after reviewing the Mac mini, we shared our thoughts of the shortcomings of this machine to our partners from Macway : lack of expansion ports (FireWire, USB) and the sluggish 2.5". Keeping this in mind, they came up with the Mini Partner.

As you can see, the Mini Partner is very similar in appearance to the Mac mini, although it is slightly thinner.
Concept and Specifications :
The case is designed to be placed under the Mac mini.

Although placing the Mac mini under the Mini Partner is possible, it is not recommended since it might hinder Bluetooth and Airport reception.

The Mini Partner features a 3.5" Hard Drive, a 5 ports USB2 hub (one will be used to connect to the Mac mini) and a 3 ports FireWire hub (and again, one port will be used to connect to the Mac mini)

The Mini Partner is powered externally by an adapter. On the face of the device, there is a one touch backup button that'll work with Restrospect Express (included).
