Environmental Education

From August 22nd to 27th, took place in Strasbourg (France) the 21st National Meeting for Environmental Education, organized by two French organizations : ARIENA (Regional Association for Environmental and Nature Education in Alsace) and "École et Nature", and founded by the Alsace Regional Council, both Local Councils (Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin) and the French Ecology Ministry. Over 250 attendees coming from 5 different countries have debated on the main topic "Another public, other approaches, new projects to build", and could use a free-access computer room packed with Apple computers.

ARIENA, an 100% Apple computer equipped organization (since more than 15 years, proving reliability and longevity of Apple computers), had move part of its Mac to the Meeting location; while receiving free of charge for a week 8 computers from a local AppleCenter. Setting up intranet and internet connections in addition to configuring over 15 computers was performed quickly and easily by ARIENA members with the help of volunteer who was wearing a T-shirt with a well known logo..

Apple computers available have been used by the organization team to manage the different tasks of such a meeting (registration, billing, invoicing,...), as well as publishing the everyday "Meeting's Newspaper".

Attendees have enjoyed a computer room equipped with eMacs and iMacs, intranet and internet connection for checking their emails, browsing the net, newsgroup, forums, but also for writing reports and preparing PowerPoint or Keynote presentation.

After such meeting, many attendees think that such a partnership between AppleCenter sand Environmental Education networks should be created for the different projects performed every year in our schools or colleges.
