Tests 2/3 :
We then have quickly tested if the burner could indeed perform as expected. First CD-R 16x, no problem. But it is of course mainly its DVD-burning capacities that we wanted to explore; and then we were facing a small problem.
Actually, this burner will accept to burn at more than 2x only if using some good quality media.
Hereafter is a list of media with which the burning speed was tested (between brackets is the supplier ordering number) :
- Macway certified 4x (LONGTE): Maximal burning speed 2x
- DataWrite RedV2 certified 4x (AN32 ): Maximal burning speed 2x
- Promo-Media certified 4x (PRINCO): Maximal burning speed 2x
- Manufacturing Advanced Media certified 4x (MCI4XG): Maximal burning speed 2x
- Sony Ver. 2.0 certified 4x (SONY04): Maximal burning speed 4x
- TDK certified 4x (TTG01): Maximal burning speed 4x

It is possible that other brand name of DVD media will also be compatible for a burning speed of 4x, this is not an extensive test, and we can also expect that firmware updates will allow a better compatibility of this burner with the currently available 4x certified media.
All the test were performed by burning a video DVD, not for hacking purpose, but because this is the most difficult DVD to burn, and that you can afterwards test the quality of the copy in a standalone DVD player.
