Extreme Overclock of a g4

1) Introduction :

It has been some time since we wanted to try ourselves at extreme overclock of the G4 processor. After giving this proper thinking and finding the adequate solution we decided to make it a reality.
It is impossible to squeeze the most processing power without proper cooling. So we got a Watercooling Aquarius 2 kit from Thermaltake.

This kit has the advantage of fitting any PC processor and costing under 150 euro.
In any case, no Apple processor can get be watercooled with an off-the-shelf kit without heavy moddifications. For this reason we decided to perform this test on a GigaDesign board, which has a PC-compatible heatsink fixation support. To save money we chose the 800 MHz L3-cache-less board. The other advantage of this board is that one can change the settings of BOTH the frequency multiplication and of the processor core voltage, with no additional soldering. The processor on this board is a PPC 7450 (it has been since replaced by a PPC 7455).
