Installation of the Superdrive
Antoine Bercovici wrote a great article on how to take the iBook G4 apart, so make sure you read it (link to translated article...) thoroughly before you rush into the following mod.
Here's a picture of the combo drive of the iBook (left) and of the UJ-815 (right). They are identical in dimensions.
Removal of the combo drive is easy.
1- Remove the Bluetooth antenna
2- Unplug the flat ATA cable from the Logic Board
3- Remove the 4 screws holding the drive in its cage and get it out of it with back-and-forth movements.
Then you need to remove the other crews and the plastic face off of the combo drive and place them on the superdrive.
Take your time and be careful not to forget anything when you put your iBook back together. You wouldn't want to have to do everything twice, now do you ?
